During more than three decades of legal practice, Ms. Wegner has conducted a number of workplace investigations involving allegations of sexual and other forms of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other types of employee misconduct. She has performed such investigations on behalf of employers of all sizes in the entertainment, manufacturing and retail sectors, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to much smaller, and sometimes family-owned, operations.

The investigative process depends in part upon the nature of the allegations involved, but it typically involves conducting witness interviews, reviewing pertinent personnel and other documents, gathering relevant evidence, assessing the credibility of witnesses and providing findings of fact in a confidential written or oral report that may be protected by attorney-client privilege in certain circumstances. A prompt, objective and thorough investigation of allegations can help to resolve workplace disputes before they escalate into lawsuits and also may yield an evidentiary record for use in later disciplinary or legal proceedings.

When issues of potential employee misconduct arise in the workplace, a neutral third party with extensive legal experience is often the best person to investigate the allegations. Such an individual brings credibility to the process by conducting an impartial investigation and by identifying and sometimes helping to resolve internal disputes that can be disruptive and harmful to both employer operations and employee morale. Additionally, employees and other witnesses involved in the investigation may be more candid when speaking with an outside investigator who is not employed by or affiliated with the company and does not know or have a relationship with the individuals involved in the matter. This is particularly true in Ms. Wegner's case because, unlike most employment lawyers, she has represented both employers and employees?a fact that can help to convince employees of her objectivity.

Ms. Wegner's independence, years of experience, excellent written and oral communication skills and genuine concern about people help to make her a unique and highly-qualified investigator of workplace misconduct allegations. She also is available to provide training and expert advice or testimony about workplace investigations and related issues.
